First Impressions of the Logitech Android OS 3.0+ Bluetooth Keyboard

A few days ago, I recieved the Logitech Android OS 3.0+ bluetooth keyboard I pre-ordered. I posted my first impressions on Xoom Forums...

The logitech keyboard arrived yesterday as I expected. I like it so far. The compact design is nice and I like the case it comes with (which doubles as a stand for your tablet but I already have the portfolio case). The length of the keyboard is longer than the Xoom, which means I can not carry it in my Chrome "Minimalist" bag but it fits fine my messenger bag and backpack. There are Xoom/ Android OS 3.0+ specific shortcut function keys at the top (email, browser, calendar, music, multimedia keys... back, play/ pause, forward, volume down, volume up). There are additional Xoom/ Android OS 3.0+ specific keys at the bottom (search, home, back, and menu). Typing feels nice and smooth despite my big hands. I did find myself looking for keys and my fingers feel comfortable on the "home" row (A, S, D, F, J, K, L, and ; keys). I felt as if I could type my regular number of words-per-minute without slowing down. At times, I wished there was a "Home" and "End" key for typing but instead I needed to use the arrow keys. The same is true for any "Page Up" or "Page Down" keys, instead, you use the arrow keys. I am not sure if there are any shortcut key combinations, however, I was able to copy and paste with "Ctrl + C" and "Ctrl + V" respectively. There are battery and bluetooth indicators at the top right next to the power switch. I have only seen them illumiated when initially turning on the device.

I have been happy with my purchase and recommend the Logitech Android OS 3.0+ keyboard for anyone who wants to type at length on their tablet and/ or doesn't have the Motorola keyboard. I hope someone finds this helpful. Peace.

Note: The keyboard requires four AAA batteries which were supplied.

Brink of Destruction (Some Quick Thoughts)

From Drop Box

I'm about to dive into some Brink. So far I like it. There are obvious comparisons to Team Fortress but that was a good game too. I highly recommend playing through the challenges before jumping into an online game or even the campaign. The Challenge mode acts as a tutorial for the game, making you accomplish remedial goals with increasing difficulty. The customization is a win with the plethora of options available for players to diversify the playing field. One match can be played with the same base character but each player can be outfitted with scars, tattoos, face-paint, shirts, jackets, hair, head gear, etc... And most of that (with the exceptions of scars and tattoos) can be changed very quickly though the menus. The same with your weaponry and attachments.

The objectives are your run-of-the-mill escort, destroy, defend, hack missions. The difference though is that only certain classes (soldier, medic, engineer, or operative) can complete certain goals. For instance, only an Operative can hack to achieve the teams mission. Switching classes is as easy as running to your nearest command post so there is no reason to die and wait to respawn. Team work becomes key as medics are needed to boost health and revive you should you fall in combat; soldiers help by providing gun food, engineers can provide  and repair turrets as well as destroy enemy mines or plant one themselves, and operatives can disguise themselves as the enemy as well as see and mark enemy mines.

I haven't progressed that far in the story yet to be able to say much about it. I like the idea of the two stories being written for when you succeed and fail.

The game is fun and I'm looking forward to playing some rounds with @erndb later.

My Next Big Expense: Canon Rebel T2i (A Review)

Here is a review (from Gizmodo) of what will be my next big expense, Canon Rebel T2i. I have been complimented on my pictures (and here) and I think I am ready to dive into the DSLR world. I still have a long way to go but, through trial and error, I'm sure I can churn out some high quality photos. :-)

Matt BuchananCanon Rebel T2i Review: This Should Be Your First DSLR

Canon's Rebel T2i is an incredible camera—everything a first DSLR should be. It takes fantastic photos (and, crucially, video) for the price, it's easy to use, and perhaps most importantly, it's a camera you can grow with.

But there's no shame in using it if you really know what you're doing, either.

That's in part because it's a semi-pro camera, dressed down. The $900 T2i is essentially Canon's mid-range $1900 7D, one of the best DSLRs for the money, shoved into a simpler, smaller body. Namely, it uses an 18-megapixel APS-C image sensor that's not too different from the 7D's; the same 1080p/full manual video capabilities; and the same IFCL 63-layer dual-zone metering system, adjusted for the T2i's different autofocus setup.

And for anyone just getting into DSLR photography, the power to package ratio is phenomenal. That said, it still feels like an entry-level DSLR, for better and worse.

REVIEW: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 via Otaku But Gangsta

Media_httpwwwotakubut_ygyvv

Are both companies going to take us for another ride? Check out Otaku But Gangsta's review on Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I like the characters they threw into the fray, particularly Deadpool, Dante, and X-23. I also like the costume variants available for the different characters (Deadpool sports his OG costume plus his Ultimate, X-Men, & X-Force color schemes). Aside from Mortal Kombat, 2D fighting games such as Street Fighter and the various SNK games were never really games I excelled at. Regardless, this game is still interesting to watch with your favorite characters going at it with their signature moves (Yes, Phoenix is that powerful but her defense sucks).

I "BulletStorm" and "Crysis 2" are going to be my next game purchases. I still want to finish "Dead Space," "Dead Rising 2," and "Fallout: New Vegas."

Review: Halo Reach - Otaku But Gangsta

Media_httpwwwotakubut_pngdh

My good buddy over at OBG (Otaku But Gangsta) posted a review of Halo: Reach, which dropped last Tuesday. I agree with the review. We completed the campaign together the first day it was released and now are feverishly going through matchmaking to customize our Noble Six avatar. I am trying to replicate my avatar from Halo 3 but haven't earned the proper rank to purchase certain items yet. Anyway, check out his review of the latest and last Halo game by Bungie.
