Dope Music Fridays

Since I have been posting again, I have been considering music for #dopemusicfridays. Usually, it is something I have heard or have been listening to recently. I used my Last FM (http://www.last.fm/user/in3br14t3d) account for a little help but here it goes:

Peanut Butter Wolf - Summer's End A tribute to the end of the summer and beginning of autumn.

DJ Shadow - Def Surrounds Us He released this single for twentyfour hours via djshadow.bandcamp.com. The link is dead and the promotion is over, but I can't let that stop me from promoting this incredible artist.

Nujabes - Voice Of Autumn for obvious reasons. R.I.P. Nujabes.

Juice/ MC Juice - Sincerely This ill freestyle battle rapper from Chicago beat Eminem in Scribble Jam '97.  'nuff said.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away I was listening to Blood Sugar Sex Magik recently and it brought me back in time.

Bonus: The Roots - Fire feat. John Legend In honor of their live concert that was streamed on YouTube on September 23. Cop their new album together, "Wake Up!" (http://www.amazon.com/Wake-Up-John-Legend-Roots/dp/B003TXKSWK/ref=sr_1_1?s=gateway&ie=UTF8&qid=1285297832&sr=8-1)

Update: Looks like the Legend/ Roots link is dead. And I'm having a problem uploading audio.

Update: I still can not upload tracks to be listened to through the site so I have included a download link.

So, Adult Swim was nice enough to release a track from the upcoming album by Madvillain (MF Doom & Madlib). Their first album was incredible so I'm looking forward to this. I haven't heard Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remix yet but will soon.

Madvillain - "Paper Mill"
Camu Tao (R.I.P.) passed way about two years ago after a long battle with lung cancer. He was a gifted and upcoming artist originally from Ohio's MHz crew (with Copywrite 78, RJD2, Jakki Da Motamouth,  & Tage Proto). He also worked with Cage on  Nighthawks, was a member of The Weathermen and did other tracks with Eastern Conference and Definitive Jux. Now a posthumous release of his album, "King of Hearts" is set to be released on August 17. Enjoy a track from the album below.

Camu Tao - "Perfect Plan"
Also, enjoy a track by Central Services (Camu and El-P), "We Do The Work, You Do The Pleasure" from 'Forever Frozen In Television'
And here are two tracks I stumbled upon this week from Gil Scott-Heron's 'I'm New Here.' The track, "New York Is Killing Me" was remixed featuring Mos Def and the same song was remixed featuring Nas. Here are both versions for your enjoyment. (thank you pitchfork)

Gil Scott-Heron - "New York Is Killing Me" feat. Mos Def

Gil Scot-Heron - "New York Is Killing Me" feat. Nas

Let me know what you think.

Peace.

A Change @ Def Jux

It isn't often that I come to admire a record label that distributes/ produces for a number of artists that I enjoy. Rawkus was one with Black Star, Company Flow, Smut Peddlers, and everyone else on Soundbombing 2. Then label went defunct and the artists went their separate ways. Then El-P decided to start his own label, Definitive Jux where he and many others (Aesop Rock, Cage, Cannibal Ox, RJD2, C-Rayz Walz, Mr. Lif, Murs, and more) made beautiful music together. But now there will be changes. What happened? I'll let El-P explain.

So in honor/ memory of record label with a selection of artist I enjoy listening to, some music:
